Crane borers are widely utilised in the power industry for the erection of timber, concrete, steel poles; streetlights, traffic lights; and for the replacement of pole and ground transformers and other electrical equipment. Depending on crane borer model, the crane has up to 10 tone lift capacity with an extended length of about 15 meters. There is a pendulum borer attached to the side of the boom for auguring holes; a hydraulic tamper for compacting the soil around the power pole; and a set of jaws at the end of the crane boom which is used to stabilize the pole during installation.
Crane borers are engineered to fit on the back of a truck that has a length about the same as a tipper. They use the truck engine to power the hydraulic system on the crane. The operator is situated usually on the right-hand rear of the boom, beside the boom for best visibility and to help the overall compact size of the machine. The operator uses either electric over hydraulic or pilot operated hydraulic controls to operate all crane functions on the crane borer. Depending on the model of crane borer and state your working in, a crane borer can carry up to 2 poles to and from the jobsite. The crane borer also has a pendulum borer attached to the left-hand side which is used to auger the holes for the power pole or foundational holes up to 1m wide and 5m deep. The pendulum borer can be quickly and easily stowed out of the way when not in use.
Crane borers are equipped to support various types of electrical supply infrastructure including:
Crane borers are regularly utilised in densely populated areas such as inner cities, residential areas through to the remote parts of Australia, including mine sites for their own power network infrastructure or to rural properties for installation of property poles. This is due to the crane borer being mounted on the back of a truck which makes the crane bore very mobile yet compact for its size.
There is a wide array of benefits to operating a crane borer.
Because of these features, the crane borer is a great tool to support various types of electrical supply infrastructure projects.
